Dear god what has happened to people that make "Music."
June 22, 2017
I'm going to sound like an old man through out this and i'm ok with that. There used to be a time, not all that long ago where even bad or boring music was obviously played by real people. This is all coming from someone who rarely uses physical instruments to make music. The absolute lack of musicality, originality, and feeling like the people who are “playing” this shit have any excitement in the fact they are being herd by millions of people is god damn infuriating. This doesn’t just land with mainstream music but also the terrible bulk of music on ScoundCloud, Bandcamp, and every other independent music site. At what Point did music creation become so robotic, insulting to the audience, and above all else so god damn boring. It really makes me think that people don’t even listen to the shit that has their name on it. And im not going to name any bands/groups at this point because music speaks to people differently. I love bands that a ton of people haven’t even heard of, slow moving music, hard to follow, arduous, and slightly pretentious, Maybe that says more about me than it should.
There are a large hand full of groups that if you like them it tells me you like bad music. Don't think im attacking anyone for your (bad) preferences, because its a preference and that's all you, but I encourage you to put aside the sycophancy, devotion, and admit that its not good music. This might come from being a struggling artist, under-appreciated, overlook and that is sick of original and boring music get huge. There is no greater sin an artist can commit than being boring. So fucking stop it.
Making an instrumental track that has no one raping/singing over it is not a talent, its like 40% of the music, making a two minute drum beat with stock “electronic” sounds is not music, Stop calling noise art, stop remixing songs no one has ever heard, stop remixing songs that everyone has already, speeding up or slowing down someones song is not music, If you believe your an artist and no one gets is just STOP!
