An SHC video first
December 11, 2014
Hello again lovely people! SHC here and today we are talking about/ looking at the latest video I posted on the Youtubes. I had been wanting to do something like this for a while but the lack of good or usable camera, no video editing software and no ideas were leaving me at a stand still. Thankfully with a new cell phone (OnePlus one) with better camera, free trial versions of editing software, and remembering a piece of music I wrote a few years ago let me make this finally happen.
Let me be the first to say I'm not a good guitar player, and such a newcomer to video editing software its laughable. Writing music with many layers and harmonies is something I'm used to but in the realm of programing and arranging, when trying to apply that to guitar when I haven't play much over the years up until a few months ago was a little bit of a challenge. Theory, principals, and melody are something I do grasp though it seems that's more for composing than actually playing. The main line is this passage is what I believe to be something in C or A while tuned down to C. Its a simple two section line that just repeats over while using enough notes to let the lead lines have enough to play over. As for the lead lines, its a simple five note line that takes advantage of the notes that are used in the main melody, and its got three parts to it. The first “lead line,” the harmony to that, and a harmony on that harmony, which mostly is in 5ths with a few 3ds in there. The most interesting section would be the 3rd lead line, it starts out playing a 3rd an octave below the main line a few times then moves up two octaves to a third above the second line for the final loop, this seems to add a little more melodic tension by making the listener wait to get that familiar pay off. I am well aware that this is not the most original thing ever and I'm totally fine with that. I came up with it a few years ago at a time when things were not so easy for many reason, and the fact that I remembered it and knew how all the parts would go with never recording it or writing it down was something that make me go “god damn.” It also shows me that I can write in music in a different medium which I really didn’t do before cause I thought it was out of my reach.
Well I suppose that’s all for now, I cant thank everyone enough who watched the video and read this. As always, like, comment, and Subscribe! This cat need all the Youtube subs he can get! Mister Scrambles: Over and Out! XOXOXO
